Interesting point, Romain. Because PowerQUICC parts are labeled as "communications" processors, I've always assumed that they were designed specifically for netcom systems. But a brief perusal of the Freescale site confirms my error: Freescale does indeed target IA systems with some of their PowerQUICC models.

It is aimed at automotive OEMs and Tier ones initially. We are getting interest from some other market segments as well. QNX CAR includes a number of QNX technologies and third party technologies that could apply to consumer, industrial automation and even medical markets so while the initial target is focused the potential is quite large.

I'm curious. What target is the QNX CAR stuff aim at. It seems to mean there is only a short list of potential customers for this?

Fair enough. You're right, I don't actually know if BMW has any involvement in this at all. I also can't speak to what HMI's the car demos. Thanks for the input.

Although its a BMW I think its not down to BMW I think. Its just a vehicle HB have used.

The vehicle demos HMI's from; Audi MMI, Porsche, Mercedes and BMW. Hence, do you see a BMW Logo, apart from the on the front of all BMWs

Hmm... In my specific case the difference was the point at which I get on the highway (one entrance ramp later) so even if the traffic had been heavier it still would have been faster. In general, though, I take your point but perhaps the load balancing effect, spreading the traffic across multiple routes would help things overall.

If everybody had that traffic information, it would still have taken you 30 minutes because of the bottleneck created by the extra trafic

I want an Eee PC with QNX fastboot as my next computer.
If it gets the WiFi and the browser up and running in less then 5sec I think we have a winner

My tastes are eclectic to say the least and I have had good experience seeding with several different songs. I don't know when they plan to license it. It used to be available here in Canada and it just went away. There are some other similar internet radio offerings you could try.
